Wreckage: the parts of a vehicle, building, etc. that remain after it has been badly damaged or destroyed.
Examples:
- A few survivors were pulled from the wreckage.
- Pieces of wreckage were found ten miles away from the scene of the explosion.(figurative)
- Could nothing be rescued from the wreckage of her dreams?
